Position Summary

Serves as an integral member of the Athletic Communications Team. Will be the primary contact for sports to be determined by the Director of Athletic Communications, and assists in the daily operations of the Athletics Communications Office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Will be the primary contact for sports to be determined by the Director of Athletic Communications. As a primary contact, they will be responsible for media guides, general releases and website updates.
  • Assist in all daily operations of the Athletic Communication office, which includes general website upkeep, department releases, updating statistical records and archives for all sports.
  • Assist with game-day duties at men's and women's basketball, along with other assigned sports.
  • Serve as a contact for all student workers, including developing a plan for attracting new student workers.
  • The selected candidates will also aid in creating content and help further develop the initiatives in multimedia on the department's official website, www.hartfordhawks.com.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

    Formal Education
    Bachelor's Degree required in a related field.

    Work Experience
    1 year to 2 years in a college or university sports information office.

    Knowledge and Skills
    Applicants must possess good writing and editing ability, knowledge of AP style and desktop publishing, preferably with Adobe Indesign and Photoshop. Applicants must have experience using Stat Crew software programs and website publishing software. Applicants need to be highly motivated and energetic, and be able to manage a demanding work schedule that includes long work hours and weekends.

    Salary
    The position pays $10,000 for a 10 month contract, starting on August 1, 2008
