ASSISTANT ATHLETICS DIRECTOR FOR DEVELOPMENT/ ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR FOR INSTITUTIONAL ADVANCEMENT

Southern Illinois University Carbondale (SIUC) invites applications and nominations for the position of Assistant Athletics Director for Development/Associate Director for Institutional Advancement who will lead and coordinate the fundraising activities for Intercollegiate Athletics. This staff person will manage an assignment of donor prospects, engaging in personal cultivation and solicitation for Intercollegiate Athletics and the University. Travel, evening and weekend work will be necessary to fulfill tasks. The successful candidate will report to both the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics and the Associate Vice Chancellor for Institutional Advancement/ Executive Director of Development and will supervise work activities of the Annual Fund Director, Athletics. The candidate will work closely with staff to determine key priorities including fundraising for athletic department needs, student scholarships and facility needs including an $83-million combined effort to build a new football stadium and to renovate SIU Arena.

Candidates should have a broad knowledge of fundraising concepts and strategies necessary to cultivate and secure significant major and annual gifts from individuals, corporations, and foundations; excellent organizational, verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills; and proven ability to work with volunteers and not-for-profit organizations. A bachelor's degree is required; a master's degree is preferred. A minimum of three years' professional experience in fund raising, other institutional advancement area, athletics administration or closely related field is required. Evidence of successful mid-management experience is expected as is experience in both writing and presenting proposals.

SIUC, located in scenic southern Illinois, approximately 100 miles southeast of St. Louis and 350 miles south of Chicago, is a comprehensive university with more than 20,000 students.
