Wendy Taylor May Position: Senior Associate AD-Internal Operations Institution: University of California San Diego

Wendy Taylor May has worked for the UC San Diego Athletics Department since 2000. After spending her first five years as an Associate Director, May was promoted to the position of Senior Associate Director of Athletics for Internal Operations in 2005. As such, May oversees all internal operations for UCSD's $ 6 million 23-sport program.

May's responsibilities also include supervising 13 of the department's 23 sports, as well as overseeing the compliance and student services staff , business operations staff, office administrative staff and the strength and conditioning program.

In addition, May serves as the Senior Woman Administrator, is a member of the NCAA Division II Management Council and also serves on the NCAA Division II Committee on Infractions, and the NCAA Division II Nominating Committee. She recently completed a three-year term on the NCAA's Fencing Committee, including serving as the chair in 2006-07.

Before coming to UCSD, May was the Associate Athletic Director and Senior Woman Administrator at Virginia Commonwealth University from 1996-2000. While at VCU, May served as the Tournament Manager for the NCAA Division I Women's Basketball East Regional, as well as having sport supervision duties and handling all aspects of the Division I institution's compliance and life skills programs. Prior to her move to VCU, May was an Assistant Commissioner with the Big South Conference, where she handled the conference compliance program for the 10 Division I member institutions as well as overseeing the management of several conference championships. She has also worked at Chicago State University and the University of Richmond.

May earned her bachelor's degree in behavioral neuroscience from Lehigh University, where she was a four-year member of the women's basketball team. She then went on to earn her master's in sports management from the University of Richmond.

She is married to Mike May, Assistant Athletic Director, Director of Media Relations at San Diego State University.
