Kate Hickey, senior associate athletics director/senior woman administrator, joined the Rutgers staff in January 1999. Her responsibilities at Rutgers include oversight for the NCAA compliance program for the division, nine Olympic sports programs, student services, student-athlete housing and the Division's RU STRONG (life skills) program. Hickey also serves as the co-advisor for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and as the Division's Title IX liaison.

Hickey currently serves as NAAC's 3rd Vice President and Chair of NAAC's Committee on Reasonable Standards. In May 2007 and May 2008, Hickey served as a facilitator at the NCAA Development Conference, a forum for Division I, II and III student-athletes to learn about and enhance their leadership, communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills. Hickey served from April 2002 through April 2007 as one of three BIG EAST Conference representatives to the former NCAA Division I Management Council. She served as chair of the Council from April 2006 through April 2007 and as chair of the Council's Legislative Review Subcommittee (LRS) from November 2002 through April 2006. The LRS was responsible for reviewing all proposed legislation in Division I and providing feedback and recommendations to the full Management Council.

In 2007, Hickey was named the Administrator of the Year for Division I-A by the National Association of Collegiate Women Athletic Administrators.

Prior to her appointment at Rutgers, Hickey served the Big East Conference as assistant director for compliance from August 1996 to December 1998 and was the Southern Conference's assistant commissioner for compliance from June 1995 to July 1996. At the Southern Conference Hickey was responsible for developing and implementing the Conference's Student-Athlete Leadership Institute, a program designed to assist student-athletes in developing the skills necessary to become positive leaders and role models. Prior to being named assistant commissioner, Hickey also worked as an intern in the championships and compliance areas for the SoCon.

Hickey began her career in college athletics at North Carolina in 1992, working in the areas of game operations, compliance and academic support while earning her master's degree in sport administration. Hickey earned her undergraduate degree in health and physical education from Rhode Island.
