Travis Feezell, the former athletics director at Whitman College in Walla Walla, (Wash.), stepped on board as Macalester's new athletics director in the summer of 2005.

Feezell headed the Whitman athletics department for five years, overseeing 18 varsity programs, intramurals and teaching classes on sports culture and great books. He was the baseball coach for six years as well.

Before working at Whitman, he was an academic adviser in the athletics department at Northwestern. He has also been active on NCAA committees including the Division III Management Council and the Division III Financial Aid Awards Committee.

Feezell, a high school baseball star in Nebraska, earned his bachelor's degree in English from the Wyoming in 1990. While at Wyoming, Feezell was a varsity baseball player and a finalist for a Rhodes Scholarship in 1989. In 1992, he earned his master's degree in medieval british studies from the University of Wales, Cardiff, Great Britain, and his doctorate in education from the University of Idaho this year.

Feezell and his wife Carol, the former Whitman cross country coach, have four children ages 12, 9, 4 and two.
