Derek Lochbaum Position: Director of Trademarks and Licensing Institution: University of North Carolina

Derek Lochbaum joined The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill's administration in August of 2004. With a background in Sports Marketing, Event Management, Higher Education and Tourism, he brings a unique perspective to the licensing business.

As the Director of Trademarks and Licensing, Derek's current responsibilities include the overall direction and day-to-day management of the University's licensing program. He is a member of the International Collegiate Licensing Association's (ICLA) Board of Directors. And, he has become a regular presenter, on various topics, at industry workshops and seminars.

Prior to arriving in Chapel Hill, Derek held the Manager of Trademark Licensing position at The Pennsylvania State University. In June of 2004, he was honored to receive ICLA's Synergy Award, presented to the Licensing Program of the Year.

Past professional experience includes a stint as the Director of Tourism for Lycoming County (PA), home to the Little League World Series. He worked closely with students as an Academic Advisor at Georgia State University. And, he provided expertise to numerous sporting events around the country as an Event Coordinator for ProServ, Inc. His event management background provided stops on the Association of Volleyball Professionals (AVP) and the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) tours, as well as, the Davis Cup.

A native of Harrisburg, PA, Derek holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from The Pennsylvania State University and a Masters of Science degree in Education, with a concentration in Sports Administration, from Georgia State University.
