Dr. Greg Waggoner is beginning his 14th year as athletics director at Western State College of Colorado (WSC). He received both his bachelor's and master's degrees from WSC in 1980 and 1981, respectively. He received his PhD from Northern Colorado in 1994.

Through numerous alumni, friends, and corporate partner special events, over $12 million has been raised privately for Mountaineer athletics over the past 13 years (exceeded $1 million each of past 3 years). Private/external/enterprise generated revenues make up 41% of the total WSC athletics budget. Additionally, over $6 million in athletics facility improvements have been made for Mountaineer athletics in the past 13 years from public and private sources.

In the past 13 years, Western State athletics teams have accomplished the following:

• 68 NCAA Division II National "Top 10" team finishes

• 10 NCAA Division II National Championship teams

• 24 Rocky Mountain Athletics Conference Championship teams

• 12 consecutive top-25 finishes in the Directors' Cup standings

• Three top-5 finishes in the Directors' Cup standings

• Numerous individual National Champion, All-American, Academic All-American, Coach of the Year awards and one NCAA Woman of the Year finalist

• Two USA Today NCAA Academic Achievement Awards

• Graduation rates of Western State's student-athletes rank among the best in the NCAA Division II.

Waggoner is the owner of Rocky Mountain Athletics Consulting Services (RMACS) and is a regular speaker on such topics as team building, liability/sport law, Title IX, fund raising, NCAA Clearinghouse standards, contemporary issues in coaching, marketing student-athletes to colleges, parent relations, motivation and other selected topics. He is also professionally active as the current Second Vice President of the NCAA Division II Athletics Directors Association (D-II ADA), current member of the National Association for Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) Executive Committee, the past chair of the NCAA Division II wrestling committee, and past chair of the RMAC AD's council. Waggoner is also active in community service locally in the Gunnison valley.

Prior to focusing full-time on his athletics administration career, Dr. Waggoner enjoyed a successful coaching and teaching career for 18 years, including 12 of those years serving as the head wrestling coach and associate professor of exercise and sport science at Western State.

Waggoner and his wife Gloria have two grown children, Dillon and Destiny.
