Gary Cunningham Lifetime Achievement Award Nominations
April 10, 2008
Please find this correspondence as a call for nominations from our membership for our fourth annual I-AAA Athletics Directors' Association Gary Cunningham Lifetime Achievement Award. Bestowed annually upon an individual who, for a minimum of 15 years as a Director of Athletics and 25 years in total, has contributed to intercollegiate sthletics in such a manner as to bring honor to themselves, their institution(s), and the profession as a whole. Honorees must be either a current member in good standing of the I-AAA AD's Association or have been in such regard prior to their retirement from the field or whenever they departed their most recent I-AAA institution. Members of the Lifetime Achievement Award Committee and current I-AAA Officers are not eligible for the honor (for confirmation of who these individuals are you can check our I-AAA home page via the NACDA website at http://nacda.cstv.com/div1aaaada/nacda-div1aaaada-committees-lifetime.html At this location, you will also see where UC Santa Barbara's Gary Cunningham (2005), Old Dominion's Jim Jarrett (2006), and retired Evansville AD Jim Byers (2007) have been our first three honorees - setting a high standard for sure. In order to have time to produce the eventual recipient's plaque, nominations are due in complete form (includes a letter of recommendation and resume of the nominee's past experience) by Friday, May 9th and should be faxed (309-677-2665) or e-mailed to my attention. Nominees and nominators must both be Active Members in good standing (i.e., paid members) - with the exception of individuals who retired or were in such regard whenever they departed their most recent I-AAA institution. Hopefully you are planning in joining us for our annual meeting in Dallas on Tuesday, June 10th at 2:30p.m. During this gathering we will not only be recognizing our GCLTA honoree but also those with members on the soon to be announced sixth annual I-AAA Scholar-Athlete Teams.
Please feel free to give me a call (309-677-2654) if you have any questions. Otherwise, best wishes for the remainder of your Spring Seasons.
