Mike Carter Position: Director of Athletics Institution: Oral Roberts University

Mike Carter was named athletics director at Oral Roberts University (ORU) on November 7, 1994. Since his hire, dramatic enhancements have occurred in every area of ORU Athletics over the last 13 years, especially in competitiveness, support structure, and facilities. Carter has been the catalyst for these significant improvements.

In the 11 years since becoming a member of the Mid-Continent Conference, ORU has established itself at the top of the conference. The Golden Eagles set conference records for total league championships per year eight times over the last nine years. ORU has been awarded the Commissioner's Cup for athletics excellence six times and finished second three times. Meanwhile, ORU student-athletes have had an overall GPA of 3.0 nine of the last 10 years.

Carter is past-chair of the NCAA Division I Men's Golf Committee, the Mid-Continent Conference Joint Council, the Mid-Continent Conference Championships Committee for Men's Basketball Committee and Baseball Committees, and is a past-member of Mid-Continent Conference Executive Committee.

Carter practiced business and sports law in Tulsa from 1973-1994. He represented coaches and athletes and consulted players at Oklahoma State, Tulsa, ORU, the Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Mets, Montreal Expos and Florida Marlins on agents and basic financial management

Carter is a 1972 graduate of Tulsa's College of Law and 1970 graduate of Oklahoma State University.
